Education
Sharing our insurance and safety expertise
Co-op employees often get the chance to educate the public on insurance and loss prevention matters. Here are some examples:
Homebuyers' Ed at NeighborWorks of Western Vermont
Underwriter and product developer Rick Quintana talked to participants in NeighborWorks' monthly homebuyer education workshop in Middlebury, VT.
The day-long workshop teaches people how to safely, responsibly, and effectively budget, save, and shop for a home. In addition to insurance considerations, participants learn about credit, inspections, closing costs, and much more. For more details, check out NeighborWorks' Web site at www.nwwvt.org.
Talking with farmers about insurance
Business Development Specialist Kevin Bourdon presented at conferences hosted by Vermont Farms! Association and UVM Extension, and the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont.
Kevin was a presenter at the 2010 Vermont Farms! Association Annual Meeting and Risk Management Planning for Agritourism and Culinary Tourism workshop on Feb 9, 2010, in Woodstock, VT. Kevin's presentation focused on the insurance coverages farmers should have in place if they're involved in agritourism, and also touched on safety issues around the farm.
On Feb 13, 2010,Kevin sat on a panel at the 2010 NOFA-VT Winter Conference at the University of Vermont in Burlington. He talked to attendees about the basics of a farm insurance program, including coverage for property, casualty, vehicles, workers' comp, and disability.
Co-op safety games featured at Idaho National Lab fair
Thousands of schoolchildren played Co-op's woodstove, fire, and outdoor safety Web games at the 2007 Idaho National Laboratory Science and Engineering Expo in Sept, 2007. The three games were available for play at a safety-themed booth at the fair in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Though Co-op doesn't serve insurance needs in Idaho, we were pleased to lend the games and help spread the safety message!
(Of course, Web site visitors are welcome to play our games anytime!)
