Are you an HR professional with a knack for payroll, or a payroll professional with a knack for HR? Do you have a passion for people, and a keen eye for detail? We’re looking for an HR Assistant to join our team and play a pivotal role in keeping our HR and Payroll operations running smoothly.
As our HR Assistant, you’ll process multi-jurisdictional bi-weekly, monthly and supplemental payrolls, support benefits administration, and collaborate with our finance team to ensure everything aligns perfectly. You’ll be the go-to for employee payroll inquiries, and benefits questions, making sure everyone’s taken care of, from onboarding to offboarding.
But it’s not just about numbers and paperwork! You’ll also help us attract top talent, assist with interviews, and give new hires a warm welcome. You’ll contribute to employee engagement, organizing events from holiday parties to wellness initiatives that keep our team happy, healthy, and thriving.
Compliance? You’ve got that covered too. You’ll ensure we’re always up-to-date with labor laws, keep employee records in check, and handle mandatory reporting like a pro. Plus, you’ll support our accounting team with processing invoices and updating ledgers for benefit contributions.
What You’ll Bring:
- A degree in Business Administration (or similar).
- 2+ years in HR or payroll, with a solid understanding of multi-jurisdictional payroll.
- Bonus points if you have a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR).
- Sharp attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for people.
- Proficiency with HRIS software and the ability to handle sensitive data with discretion.

Job Type: Full Time
This position is based in our Middlebury, VT office, so you’ll need to live within commuting distance. However, occasional remote work from your home office is an option, giving you flexibility while staying connected to our team.
The pay range for this position is $51,585 – $77,378. Pay is based on the applicant’s experience, education, knowledge, skills and abilities.
