Claims Analyst

Co-operative Insurance Companies is seeking a Claims Analyst to support our Claims Department. You’ll  play an important role in keeping our claims operations accurate, efficient, and compliant while delivering excellent service to claimants, agents, and team members – all from our Middlebury office.

While much of your work will involve system-based and administrative processes, your success will rely on your sound judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Accurately enter and analyze claim data
  • Answer inbound claims calls, assign claims and route files to adjusters or supervisors
  • Process payments and ensure accurate documentation
  • Coordinate with internal departments (IT, underwriting, finance)
  • Communicate professionally with claimants, agents, vendors, and team members
  • Manage the salvage process and assist with subrogation documentation
  • Maintain vendor records and verify payment details
  • Draft letters and attorney documentation
  • Support the team by backing up the data entry role and assisting during absences or high volume periods.

  • Detail-oriented and accurate, especially when entering data or reviewing documents.
  • A strong communicator, capable of handling calls and written correspondence professionally and clearly.
  • Technically proficient, comfortable navigating claims or administrative systems.
  • Organized and dependable, able to prioritize and meet deadlines, especially in a fast-paced or high-volume environment.
  • Customer-focused, always aiming to deliver excellent service to claimants, agents, and team members.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work well with diverse stakeholders across departments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • VT/NH Adjuster’s License (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain).
  • Completion of Associate in Insurance certification (AINS) coursework is a plus.
  • Familiarity with insurance documentation and regulatory processes is desirable.

Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This role requires prolonged computer use and occasional overtime, particularly during claim surges or catastrophes.

Location: This is primarily an in-office position at our Middlebury, VT headquarters.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.75 – $32.63.
