UI Insurance Services has a proud legacy rooted in innovation, adaptability, and service excellence. The journey began in 1968, when Co-operative Insurance Companies formed a wholly owned insurance agency to meet the evolving needs of its agency force, by providing access to other quality companies to write business that Co-operative Insurance could not provide.
In 1979, UI Insurance Services partnered with Volunteer Fireman’s Insurance Services (VFIS) to introduce specialized insurance solutions for Vermont’s emergency services. As the Regional Director, UI became the central contact for VFIS products and coverage in Vermont, offering unique access to comprehensive coverage for fire departments.
As VFIS expanded its scope to include ambulance and emergency medical services, it rebranded in 1994, fueling steady growth across the U.S. and Canada. UI Insurance Services continued to play a key role in this expansion, maintaining its leadership in Vermont and deepening its expertise in emergency services insurance.
In 2022, UI’s VFIS territory grew to include New Hampshire and Maine, prompting a rebrand of the division to VFIS of Northern New England. By 2025, UI proudly marks 46 years of continuous partnership with VFIS.
Today, UI Insurance Services continues to operate with a dedicated team of experienced professionals who provide exceptional support to agents and insurance carriers. Committed to empowering Co-op’s agency network, UI proudly represents a portfolio of trusted providers, including AIM Mutual, Agri-Services, Concord Group, Foremost, The Hartford, Merchants Insurance Group, Prudent Pet, and VFIS.
